Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Wilson County Public Library annual fundrasing campaign is now under way. This year’s goal (May – December) is to raise at least $3,000. The Friends of the Wilson County Public library sponsors special events and provides financial assistance to the library for their book money as a supplement the county budget. We need your help!

Throughout the week it is not uncommon to see one or more of the following events occuring at the same time in our small 5,000 square foot building:

Storytime for Preschool aged children
GED classroom instruction
Basic computer classes
Internet computer work
Protectoring of college exams
Photocoping and document scanning
Faxing service
Wirles wifi connection for computer laptops
Magazine and newspaper reading
and finally library work with checking material out and in from library patrons.

The Friends of the Wilson County Public Library meets once a year to discuss last years sucess and to plan events for the coming year. This year, 2011, the Friends decided on two book sales and one major fundraiser. The two book sales will be during the May 7th Market Day and the Saturday of Peanut Festival with a sidewalk sale. The large fundraiser will be a Family Movie and Swim Night (August 13) at the Floresville City Pool. Admission tickets for the swim night will go on sale in the library, July 1, 2011.
