Family Place builds on the knowledge that good health, early learning, parental involvement and supportive communities play a critical role in a young child’s growth and development. 

Family Place Libraries create a family friendly environment by that is part library and part community center. It encourages parent-child engagement, family support and community information by offering workshops, parenting collections, specially designed spaces, and library programs.

Building Foundations for Early Learning

The Sam Fore, Jr. Public Library Family Place Library program is made possible in part from a grant to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (2015).

The Sarah Bain Chandler Public Library Family Place Library program is made possible in part from a grant to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (2019).

Family Place Libraries build on the knowledge that family members and caregivers are every child’s first teachers by assisting with a new family centered library service. Play and Learn is an informal play date with library staff and resource specialists from within our community. Resource specialists will have knowledge in nutrition, growth, speech and hearing and music and movement.
